Firstly i apologise if ive posted this in the wrong place. I was unsure where was best to put it.

I recently purchesed an unlocked SE W900i that used to be on Vodafone, so it has all the vodafone GPRS settings and stuff. Ive put a vodafone sim in it and tried to use the GPRS using the settings already on the phone but none of them seem to work. I tried having the settings sent to me by SE but they didnt seem to work. As the GPRS settings on the phone are locked i cannot delete or edit them, and i would prefer mot to type the settings in, as i am hoping to use an old orange sim in the phone so i need the space for the orange settings.

Does anyone have any idea of what i can do. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers James

Hi parkenator,

Was the Vodafone SIM card you put in the mobile a Pay As You Talk SIM?

If the unlocked Vodafone handset was originally on a contract, the APN setting (to access the internet) in the phone might still be set to the Pay Monthly settings. It is possibly set in your phone as (wap.vodafone.co.uk) when it would need to be pp.vodafone.co.uk (PAYT) to work.

I'd recommend the Sony Ericsson online configurator to try and download the settings automatically. This will add new internet profiles to your phone; however you could always try and do this yourself on your phone.

From your phone menu, if you go to the ‘Settings’ and then ‘Internet Settings’, you should be able to delete any new additional profiles if you want a clear out afterwards (usually it's only the PAYT and Contract profiles that are locked, more can be added and removed that aren't locked).

The link to the Sony Ericsson is pasted below:

I hope this information helps you.
