Hi got a MDA Vario on a business package and have just added Web and Walk. Trouble is Ive no idea how to tell whether its on, how it works or anything. The t-mobile site is quite limited in its info. Am I supposed to get a voucher for the wireless hotspots - can I tell on my Vario whether Im connected to high speed data transfer or just normal GPRS? Are there any sites which describe how this service works?

I have added W & W to an existing handset, and understand from T-Mobile that you are not entitled to the Hotspot voucher unless you buy the datacard bundle!

WebnWalk is just a brand name for the data package it simply allows you to browse unlimited for a set monthly charge, the free hotspot pass was only available for web n walk datacards purchased before june 30th, the mda vario will only establish a gprs connection as its not a 3g handset, hsdpa the high speed connection will only be available for web n walk data cards

I have2.5 mb of data.. how much would of this charged me if i wasnt on Web n Walk?

So i have made a big saving on web and walk.. T-Mobile say "fair usage" what do they class as un-fair?

more than 2GB usage per month, using it for instant messaging, p2p downloading or voice over internet are all classed as unfair usage.

Yep sorry posted this a while ago and found out in the end most of the issues. The things I find strange were:
1) There was very little above general branding on the t-mobile website to explain how it all works and what you get and whether you get high speed data transfers or not.
2) The support staff at t-mobile seemed to know very little about it either. Try this one out: I was told and am still assurred that I can still get high data transfer speeds using GPRS. I assume this could be through the "EDGE" technology built into the phone which is capable of transferring much higher speeds - but Im not sure as most of the time the connection seems slowish. WHen ive used the phone as a modem (the software came hidden on the t-mobile CD despite some warnings elsewhere that I wasn't alllowed to do this) the speeds seemed much better.
3) The restriction on Messenger and using the phone as a modem are confusing given that they are built into the phone. Of everything being on messenger is the most useful and sellable part of the package - I still use it and its great and uses very little in terms of data. I assume unfair usage on this rerlates to something else aprat from data transfer...?

This is not the case - if you purchase a HSDPA handset (e.g. Nokia N95) then you'll get a higher speed access than standard 3G.
