It could well be a fault with the phone. If you have never made 1 succesfull call I suggest you go back to the shop.

I did try one of these phones. It went back under the 14 days. The video calling feature worked fine. I found that it was poor on picking up a 3g signal and was told this was due to the type of chip inside. I then got anokia and the 3g signal is loads better.
Personally, I wouldn't call what you are experiencing as normal and you should take it back and have a replacement.

Hi teapot, I noticed that midlands_lad who also works for Vodafone has replied on the following thread:

It does sound like it may be a fault with the handset. Any known issues are usually logged on the product pages used by staff at Vodafone. There are no problems at present. Motorola too say they've had no issues or recalls. It might be worth contacting Vodafone directly through www.vodafone.co.uk then selecting the 'contact us' field then the email option. If you include the code FIT135 in the body of your email, it will ensure that it gets routed to the best person to deal with it.
Hope this helps.

teapot your problem could be that your sim hasnt been 3G activated - ring up vodafone and ask them to do it
