Correct. There is no autofocus on the N80.

Instead there is a manual switch underneath the lens which switches it to "Macro Mode" for close-up shots.

Il get you a pic tomorrow when there is good day light of a normal pic and a macro one!

Note that it doesn't mean you have to focus every shot yourself.
It is a fixed focus lens.

if it is a fixed focus lens does that mean you dont get the best out of the 3mp camera and it will "compramise" the pictures depending on distance

Admitadly it is not going to be as "sharp" as an autofocus but it is a much faster lens than an autofocus one is.

And to be honest the camera is a really good quality anyway, if you want picture perfect snaps then wait for the SE or buy a digi cam! :D

i used to love my 6680 camera, then when i got my K750i i love the camera on it,

i still think k750i camera is better, because of the auto focus.

i tried to take a pic of my fish, but the N80 came out blurred but the k750i came out crisp, ill show pics to mo

i`ll have a look at one in the shop before i order one can have a fiddle with the camera if its not up to much i will probily wait for the n93 or n73 to come out in a month or two, cant understand why they put all those features on the n80 and missed out the most basic, auto focus.

ok today when i was takin a pic of my fish it came out blurry, was in the pub watching the match in the dark, so i thought ill take pics, but they came out dark, then took pic with my k750i. the quality was so much better, give me until to mo, ill post the difference

no really it is poo. at least for a 3mp camera it is! good enough for on a phone as far as i would say, but 3 million pixels should be a lot prettyer.

missed out the most basic, auto focus.

Its a phone - you can ring people with it; isnt that the most basic!

Perhaps its just me but as a camera enthusiast I tend not to rely upon a phone to do what i need from a camera - none of them get anywhere near.

Just like a phone cant be an proper MP3 player if you are a real hard-core music person. Its whether or not the phone ticks your boxes, and if you think autofocus is most important, I'd stay away from the N80.

I'm not disputing you may not be happy with it and it is not the best camera - but to say it is ****e (without placing that comment in any context) is stretching things! I come from a Nokia 3200. Is it ****e compared to that?

cant understand why they put all those features on the n80 and missed out the most basic, auto focus.

To ensure they dont make a "killer handset" and stiffle the sales of all the rest.

Nokia never have and never will put all their eggs in one basket.

The N73 and N80 will overlap, one has wi-fi and the other has a better camera. It ensures there is a market for both, compared to just one device with both features.

I still havn't put a photo on the computer. But I think I will be pleased with it, compared with my Nokia 7610!!!!! For a phone I bet I will be more than pleased with it!! lol.

I have the N70 and the camera is outstanding compared to any other phone i have had, how can the N80 camera be worse than the N70 when it is 3MP?

its the same with cars, just because one car has a 2.5l engine, doesnt automatically make it more powerfull than one with a 2l engine!!

(i dont know if its better or worse than n70, just that its poo for 3mp and Ive sean many 2mp cameras give clearly much better pictures! nokias sensor isnt very sensitive and the colours are all wrong) having a decent 2mp would mean the pictures were a lot sharper tru to life and used less space so were quicker to load etc!
