I want the o2 online 100 plan, but i had bad credit about 3 years ago, how long do they check back?
help much appreciated!

It will go to a credit agency like Experian. I'm sure it's more than 3 years

even though i only want an 18 month phone, will i still get accepted? or does it rely on other things too?
I dont know how far back they go for credit checks, but if you have credit cards, had any loans or a mogage. The cresdit check will look to see if you have made payments on time. If you have missed or made late payments these will score a black mark against you.
What the phone companies are looking for is that you can and have been able to pay any monies due to others on time.
Another option the phone company has is to request from you a deposit of say for an example 12 months line rental up front. Then after 12 months or when the company deam your credit is suitable they should return your deposit.
If they request a deposit you will still have to pay your monthly bills as the deposit is held just in case you dont make payment.

Information usually stays on your credit file for 7 years, however it just depends on what type of credit check they decide to do, your best bet is just to give it a try, whats the worst they can say!

Ok mate, but no ones going to be able to tell you if you will pass the credit check or not, only applying for the phone can answer that.
If you're that worried that it may affect your mortgage application then wait until you have your mortgage before ordering your phone!

When i took out my fist contract i did it over the phone at CPW. I went as far as the credit check and as soon as i was apporved i just said I had changed my mind.
If you own a credit card Voda approve right away according to someone in Phones 4u

You might get asked to pay £100ish up front, thats what those cheeky gits at Orange said to me and I have good credit!

It really doesn't work like that.
Sorry keppup but this really is not the place to discuss credit checks.
That said, applying will do your motgage application no harm at all and as you say yourself, the worst answer you can get is "no" so apply and good luck!

Is a credit check done if someone is taking a contract of someones hands or is it a straight transfer of detials.
If so I may be able to help you. You would get an n90 with it aswell
