Hi guys, since the mda pro comes with built-in wifi, do you think it's somehow possible to signup for web-and walk pro AND an mda pro phone?

if you just want the laptop card on it's own it's £50 on a 12 month contract and free on a 18 or 24 month contract.

Right so armed with that knowledge I went to the TMobile shop today. First they didn't think it was possible to get web&talk pro AND the mda exec handset. I explained this thread to them, and they agreed to try to sell it to me.

Only... the deal they came up with was: that to buy the mda exec + flext35 tariff + web & talk pro, the handset would cost me 230 quids. I said "no way" and they replied that if I only got the 'regular' web and talk + flext 35 + mda exec, the handset would only cost 100 pounds. If you are scratching your head reading this, don't worry, I was too! :confused:

To add insult to injury the sales guy was insistent that the reason for the price difference was that the 'pro' version was 3g, so the handset was more expensive. He was insistent I couldn't get 3g speeds on the 'regular' web&talk.

Now if anyone has advice for me, that would be much appreciated, because I haven't signed up yet (they were out of stock for the mda exec anyway).

Yes, you are correct. However, to get the walk and walk pro bundle, you have to pay 230 quids for the mda pro. So, to paraphrase you:
- web&walk + flex 35 + mda pro = 100 pounds + £42.50 monthly
- web&walk PRO + flex 35 + mda pro = 230 pounds + £42.50 monthly

That's a real shame...

You can get it for £99 on flext 35 without the web'n'walk package, then if its allowed add the web'n'walk pro package when you get your phone. With the normal web'n'walk package the phone is only £69.99, you will need to be careful which way you get the full package though. To get the phone for £69.99 you need to select flext35 with web'n'walk first then pick which phone you want to get for it.

It doesn't when you go in through the consumer portal, but then that doesn't mention anything about adding web'n'walk pro to an existing phone contract either, only taking out the £20/mth data only plan with data card. Here's a link to the business page that does give you the option to add web'n'walk pro to a voice plan.

If you look at the pricing box just below it it mentions that you can have web'n'walk pro added to a voice plan for £8.50+VAT. Can't see anything like that on the consumer pages.

I have seen this page before, like I posted seems open to use for anyone. Just uses the term "professional". I may be wrong, but I guess anyones money is as good as the next it is just the labels and boxes these companies like to put us all in.

Look at the the text in the actual weblink "menuid=business_im_wnw_pro". That coupled with the fact that you normally need to go through the business link to get that page and that they are quoting prices ex VAT points towards it being a business tarrif. I'm not saying that its impossible to get it on a consumer contract(in fact I think some people over on either mobiholics or modaco have done just that), just that t-mobile may may refuse you on the grounds that its business only.

Been to that link before, but can you point me to the bit on that page that says you can add web'n'walk pro to an existing account for £10/mth? The point that I was originally trying to make was that although an existing business customer has a clear path to add web'n'walk pro to their account for £7.50+VAT, consumers only seem to have the option of taking out a data only plan to get it. It may just be an oversight on t-mobile's part that they haven't mentioned on the consumer page that you can add to an existing plan for less money than getting a data only plan, or they might be trying to make some sort of distinction between a business user and a consumer.
Either way it makes no difference to me, since I took out a combined flext35+web'n'walk unlimited (not PRO) package last month, and can't make any changes to my account or I loose the 25% discount I get with it. Just wanted to point out to the original poster that if he goes for the flext account on its own he can definitely add web'n'walk to it at a later date, and may possibly be able to add web'n'walk pro depending on who he gets speaking to on the customer service line. If the extra features of web'n'walk pro are not overly important to him the £30 discount for taking the combined package at the start might be the way to go.

Fair point. THe link you provided was for data cards and therefore I provided the standard link for this. Unfortunately most customer services are clueless on data services.

The link I gave was indeed mainly for data cards but the fine print beneath the pricing box mentions web'n'walk pro as as addon to a voice plan available without a data card for less money per month. Strange that it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere else on the t-mobile site, almost as if they were trying to hide the fact that you don't have to get a data card to get the web'n'walk pro plan. If you have a bluetooth phone and laptop this would certainly be the way to go in my opinion (again assuming your either a business customer or that the pro plan can be an addon to any account type)

Just hunted down the thread on mobiholics about web'n'walk pro, one of the posters seems to have added the £10 package onto his consumer account but didn't get the hotspot voucher. Another poster rang CS to do the same but it wasn't showing as an option for him to add to his account. Link to thread below.

Ive probably overlooked something obvious but what is the difference beteween the web'n'walk and web'n'walk pro? Am I right in assuming that with the web'n'walk I would be able to conect a 3g phone to my labtop and surf the web etc?

I think your assumption is right, however the terms and conditions of Web and walk forbid you from using your phone as a modem for your laptop. To do this within the terms and conditions, you have to subscribe to Web and Walk pro.

No web n walk is for the mobile only, not internet via any modem in the phone or hooking up to a laptop. The pro option allows the latter plus a 12 month subscription to t mobiles 1200 odd hotspots as well.
