Hi,
I am thinking of switching my main contract to Vodafone. If I port my number from O2 will I have 1 phone number for both voice and video calls? I do not want a seperate number for voice and video calls.
Thanks,
Pete

this should not be a problem and should be easy.
yes you can have one number for both voice and video calling - you just need a 3G enabled phone.
1. get a PAC code from O2 customers services
2. go to www.vodafone.co.uk , decide what tariff and 3G phone you want from Vodafone (personal recommendation nokia N70) and go to a vodafone retail shop, give staff the O2 PAC code and tell them what tariff deal you want.
3. they will text you the date that you will come across to vodafone, continue to use O2 sim and phone till on that date your O2 sim stops working (anytime between 10am-4 pm)
4. stick VFone sim in new 3G phone and woo hoo your working

Does anyone know if it is easy to transfer a number from orange pay as you go to vodafone pay as you talk? I've heard that you have to buy a new additional sim card from vodafone before you can use your existing number on there network? or will they transfer my existing number onto the vodafone sim card that i already have which is unregistered? also when you transfer a number to a different network, what happens with regards to cross network calls per minute? do the networks know you have changed networks? Is the transfer process easy or is it better to start with a new number?
Porting a number is very easy, you just ask your current network for your PAC number and give this code and the phone number you want to port to the new network provider. Some networks will give you the PAC number when you ask for it, Orange for instance send you the PAC code through the post.
A PAC number is valid for 30 days and if you do not use it, you will stay on your current network until you request a new PAC code.
Once you have given your PAC code to your new network provider it will take around 5 working days for the number to be transfered, they will normally give you the date the port will happen on.
Each network has different rules on porting your number to them, with 3 and virgin you can port your number to them at any time. I don't know what voda's conditions are but I would think you would need to register your sim first.
Once you have ported your number your call charges will be that of the network that you have ported to.

Hi Ac-uk
If your unregistered SIM card has never been activated, you will be able to port your number onto it.
If it has been activated (ie - you have used it), you will need a new SIM.
