Nokia N80

Hi..i am well aware that the nokia n80 phone is highly anticipated and desired by all mobile phone buffs and gadget freaks..and i too have been patiently waiting for its release..but it seems that its release date keeps getting pushed back. Carphone Warehouse advised March..this is now April and will probably slip further.
I have seen the listings on e-bay and despite being tempted to bid, i fear they may be scams as they will not deal directly through e-bay.
I have however noticed 3 postings over the past 2 weeks that have shown actual photos of the phone for sale..
As i am now extremely desperate for this phone could anyone please provide me with any genuine contacts they may have either on e-bay or privately for a black nokia n80 phone..or could they advise when the phone will be available in the uk.

The posts you are talking about were posted by spendy, and although the N80 isnt for release yet, he has somehow got an early or prototype one through his contacts. You will be extremely lucky to find another one and if you do expect it to go for upto £600 or even more.

Hi yes I had 1 had to relist it twice due to scammers, I am picking up my second one tomorrow which comes boxed, with Memory card, and charger but no USB Cable or Manuels it may be pre sold already though but I will let you know. I have been offered £565 for it but it was just an offer so not sure how serious he was about it. Your welcome to make an offer. Paypal payment has finaly cleared now so my First N80 is being shipped tomorrow so hopefuly he will leave good feedback. I can't get anymore, The phones are deff not prototypes as they are CE marked and have IMEI Numbers in them. I can take more pictures if you guys would like?

I have just spoke to Carphone Warehouse they said it should be out at the end of March. I asked why it states on the website as May they said because Nokia keep pushing the date back so they said they put it as may so they dont get angry customers on their back. So keep your fingers crossed for the end of March!!

Considering they still have not released the 6280 , that has been coming soon on their website for over a month now, I would be amazed if Orange got their act together with this phone either. Rumour is , with the 6280, the delay is whilst they iron out the bugs of their orange firmware on this phone. It seems like the 6630 all over again. Orange, the futures late again :) :) :) :)

So now the question is: Once they get the software problems ironed out, how much time will there be between the N80 and the N73?

The N73 seems pretty similar in specifications and for those that aren't keen on sliders but liked the N80 specs, will it make sense to wait a month?

the N73 doesn't have wifi :( i do like the look of the N73, and july could mean xmas going by what Nokia say???

Yeah wifi is pretty much the killer app for me too.
Thats if it all runs smoothly!
It seems nokia are deliberately not making one superphone with all the features.

If they did that and just varied the casing (candy bar, slider, flip, weird twisty thing) they would easily stomp on sony-ericssons head. More than they already do that is.

Seems like a good offer, lets you go through the whole order process, doesnt say that there not in stock which is weird.

edit: it says expected delivery 2nd May on an O2 Contract

I have notice o2 charge more for their handsets than other companies, maybe i am wrong? but going by how much they sale the XDA range for, they are pretty tight... i guess on 3 it will be free, but i hate the 3 network... i will wait untill the N80 is on all of the networks before i decide, well i have waited this long

Yes O2 are charging £399 last time I looked for an N70 in their shops, yet it's £329 at CPW and £299 at Nokia's online shop. I believe O2's aren't locked to their network though unlike other providers. Anyone able to confirm that?

my past experience has been that o2 contract phones weren't locked, but o2 pay as you go are, -thats going back a few years though, not sure what they are like now.

Well after all the months waiting i have finally got my Nokia N80..in black too!!!
Th phone is a lot smaller tha i expected and looks really smart..it is slightly bigger in width & depth than my samsung d600 but only just..
The quality of the screen beats my old samsung hands down, and ive not fully tested it yet but the camera/video functions are excellent!
My only gripe (and a minor one a that) is that the slider function is fairly stiff..but who cares!!!
Gonna have a proper play now and will post some pics later..:D :D :D

Got it on e-bay as i couldn't wait for its release..only had it for a day but i have to say you need this phone in your life...its amazing!!!!
