I have the nec 338, which is ok. But I intend to add on wireless web and increase my contract to vtt700. A bluetooth handset would make proper use of the wireless web. 3 cs won't discuss handset upgrades except at silly prices. I can get a new contract for less. Does anyone know a way round this?

after 6m monhs the price comes down every month. but thy cnat tell you hat until that next month. After 6 months a 6680 was quaoted as £290 but after 9 months it was £130.

Thanks for replies and comments.
Knowing that i wanted to upgrade my tarrif, and with my number not important to me, I went online and bought a deal which gives me the bluetooth phone at less than upgrade cost. Not quite free, but I'm happy.

Im on an 18 month contract. Getting really bored with my 6680 n wanna upgrade. When am i eligible to a free upgrade? 11 months like it says on the website? And on the 3G Store you can get your upgrade from there after 11 months would i still be able to get this?
Thanks

For a 18 month contract, the free upgrade is always in the last 30 days of the contract, many a times a little early is accepted ( upto 40 days),

mate that is dependent on the handset u are using, and any campaigns 3 is running at that instance of time... not everyone is given the wide berth to choose that ...

And trust me half the customers who call up customer services / COT (customer options team) are not allowed to end their contracts / pre-upgrade their contracts (and many dealers often mis-sell a contract as an upgrade...) and then we have to look at retirements under 14 DMBG....
So I can state with full confidence... yeah at times channel support might let the early upgrade to punch through... in fact most of the times...

well, we've been told by our area manager, if channel support not let the customer upgrade after 9 months (shop upgrade only), we've got the right to ask their name and make a complain. it started 3 months ago around, and since then no one say no to upgrade after 9 months from channel support.

ok - but if i wanna UPGRADE to a higer contract, am i eligable for a new handset as well
you can change your tarrif upwards at any time. If you wanted to lower your tarrif you can only do this after 6 months and at 1 tarrif per month.
If you want to upgrade you handset part way into your contract 3 will charge you an upgrade fee. The amount 3 charge could depend on your monthly bills.
If you are a low user you would probally find the fee could be equivalent to buying out your contract. While a high user might get the fee waved or reduced (this would be at 3's descretion).

lemme clarify it for u....
Downgrades :
A customer can downgrade the tarrif after completing 6 months on the contract (upto 4 times in one contract), governed by certain business rules.
the rules can be simplified as below :
* You can downgrade only to the next lower price plan (generally at a difference of £5.00 /month.
* Or Downgrade to the PP in the same family..
for eg. from a Video & Talk & Text 700 (@ £35.00/month) , the customer can downgrade to any PP at £30.00 (TT600 / Online VTT1400). or to the next PP in the Video & Talk & Text which is the VTT350 at £25.00.
Upgrade
* A customer can upgrade his PP to any PP, at any point of time, but if the customer has any half price line rental etc, which is continuing, he will loose out on the same..
For eg. If u have taken a 18 month contract with a HPLR for 6 months, and u decide to upgrade ur PP from VTT1100 to VTT2600 in the 3rd month u will loose out the HPLR on the remaining months..
Upgrades :
A customer can upgrade his contract in the last month of his contract period, if he requests for an upgrade earlier, that would be a paid upgrade... and almost always is dependent, on the months completed on the contract and not usage exactly.
Upgrade of PP does not mean a upgrade in the contract..
Hope that clarifies the query...

Hi there, just got off the phone with a CS person and i must say i'm very impressed with the level of service.
i'm on an 18 month contract on talk and text 600 which was £30 a month, downgraded to talk and text 200 which is now costing me only £20 an month.
i've only just completed 6 months of service.
cheers for the clarification ashok.

yeps since they are in the same family of Talk and text, u can downgrade from the TT600 (500 mins + 100 texts) to the TT200 (100 mins + 100 texts) which does sound nice at £20/month but on the cost effectivity u will see that at £10 more u were getting 400 more minutes!
In fact, if u use ur mobile mostly for voice calls, TT600 is a nice blended PP. But if u intend to customize ur mobile with downloads from Triangle key browser services (planet 3) then go in for a VTT PP.
If u message quite a lot, choose for a online VTT pp like Online VTT1400 at £30/month which will give u 1000 free messages inside UK, and 300 mins to call... above that u get 50mins to video call, 50 MMS/Video messages and £5.00 to download!
If u want to know the best PP for u.. u can probably post how ur usage pattern is ... and I will try to suggest a PP for u.

Please note: This recently changed. It changed from 3 months to 2 months for an upgrade in a 3store. It is still one month before in every other retailer.

I have two contracts on 3 that finish on 4th april, the 3 customer services call centre told me i could upgrade my phones on 4th march 2007? does anyone know what date i would be able to upgrade the phone if i went to a 3store? i heard somewhere on here that you can ugrade earlier if you go directly into a 3store? has anyone else managed to do this?
