Thank you! My questions are:
1. Any idea when T-Mobile will launch Mobile TV?
2. Any idea when T-Mobile will launch a Web 'n' Walk Flat Rate?
3. Any idea if T-Mobile is going to launch a similar option like
Vodafone's "Passport" and/or "Stop the Clock"?
4. Why has T-Mobile a 3 month policy to wait to lift the roaming
bar or pay a deposit, if the mother company in Germany does
not have this policy at all?
Thank you in advance!

LeMotor
20-12-2005, 11:33 AM
Again thank you for your answers! I hope a Flat Rate somehow will be provided in near future as well as be able to make calls in your so-called "Home Zone" to be able to get rid of your Landline and have everything from one hand...Broadband at home and on the move, cheap "Home Zone" calls and mobile calls on the move! In Germany O2 and Vodafone offering these possibilities already and the trend for sure will go in this direction in the near future...

Why have u got a 3 mobile?
(Just curious)
Dont you get freebies or discounts.
My real question is why are they moving towards 18 month contracts?
Xionic
14-01-2006, 10:10 PM
i went with 3 because t-mobiles 3G coverage in my area is none existant, and yes t-mobile do seem to be moving to 18 month (another reason why i didnt go with them our *friends and family* discount is only available on 18mnth contracts and U-Fix)
as for this move to 18mnth, i have no idea

I have noticed that they are not alone in the move to 18 month contracts though. Pretty much all of the operators are heading towards them.
I have been with T-mobile since 2000 and have found them to be pretty good, I have just moved to a web & walk 400, which I hope will satisfy my new found browsing on the n70. (Only effectivley £6 more than my previous tarriff.) But not overly pleased on it being 18 months.
But on the whole what I have seen the 3g side so far seems to be better than o2 and the phone is certainly better than the orange offering.
just my observations and ramblings

Hi , i have an n70 with t-mobile. I find it really hard to work with as it is really vague with its instruction manual. Just wondering if you could help, would be much appreciated.
1. When i have bluetoothed say a ringtone (.amr) to my n70 , it goes to my message box, i can play it but then i cant move it to be a ringtone etc. Any ideas?
2. How do i change the screensaver on it and make it move as it should?
3. Why does it really take so long to get through to an operator at t-mobile????? (dont answer if you dont want to...lol.)
Thats all i want to bother you with for now as i bet you get flooded with questions.
Thanks

Hi, i have organised for my N70 to be sent back, i am thinking of getting either the MDA compact II, or MDA vario. Which of these do you think is the better?
(N70 was very slow and hard to see what was going where when putting stuff on it, etc.).
By the way what happens next , i have sent an email to distribution and had a text back saying they are dealing with it???
Thanks!!!!

So the two chices i think you have are the MDA compact without 3g or the MDA pro which has but is larger

T Mobile staff please help RE Upgrade
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi there i need some help from T Mobile staff. Previously when I was on O2, say if i was 9 months into my contract and I wanted to upgrade early O2 let me pay of the remaining line rental and upgrade early.
Now im on Tmobile ( Have been on same contract with t mobile for almost 4 years now) and my upgrade is due in August. They will let me pay all the line rental to cancel my contract early but not to upgrade early. is this right ? I thought they would at least show some leway for a customer whos been using their services for nearly 4 years. The funny thing is they let me do itlast year with 1 extra month to gobut for some reason they are not budging. Is there any way I can get around this ? Is there an escalation dept for customer service who could help me out?

Thanks Solo, but i got offered the vario yesterday by t-mobile, it just isnt on their website. Just want to know if it is better than that lame Nokia N70 im getting rid of. But dont know which to choose.
The MDA pro is way to big for me and it costs a fortune too.
Im not to bothered about 3G but i would like to know what this "EDGE" is??
Thanks.

depends, theyr both the exact same except for keyboard, if you text alot get the vario otherwise get the Compact II (which i have)
btw the next step is they will send u out a silver bag (returns packaging) once u recieve it pack the phone up and get it sent back.

The Vario was pulled off the site due to lack of stock but is still available via telesales, and has nothing to do with the Vario 2 (HTC Hermes), the Hermes isnt due out in the uk for 3-6 months

EDGE is the new GPRS for 2.5G phones offering almost as fast connections...

"The Vario was pulled off the site due to lack of stock but is still available via telesales," Ah i dont know that, i intend to sign up towards the end of the month before the 25% off goes, so maybe a wee call then might mean I get that model.
By the way does any one know if t-mobule have 3g coverage in Ni the map showns dam all, but im sure its wrong!

The vario is the better of the two devices, but havent had stock for a long time, have a feeling it may not become available again as rumour has it there is new MDA about to be released, Regarding the screen saver issue I know what you mean and have experienced it myself with various handsets, would consult the manufacturers as i really dont know, Calling CS best time is between 7am -8am and 2pm - 4pm unfortunatlly it isnt easy to forecast how busy we are going to be and always ignore the warning about call queues, there IS a website out there that tells you how to beat the automated systems. The returning of your N70 you will recieve pre paid packaging so you can return the handset, can take about a week as there is a bit of a backlog, once the handset is succesfully returned we update your account and you can start again

The Compact III (HTC 'Prophet') and The Vario II (HTC 'Hermes') but neither are due till later this year... if at all (though the Vario II is almost a dead cert)

Its a bit disapointing that the hermes or the new vario 2 as it is being refered to by us lot, is not being release until later this year with the web and walk add on and the 25% off for life, theses realy would of went flying out the door.

upgrades arent my dept but my best advise if they refuse to help you request to cancel and youll be passed to our retentions team, if you are valued enough to them they will try their best to keep you, but be warned if your a low spender (under £50 per month) then you might run into some trouble, sorry to say thats how business's work ;)...................
look at it this way
i work for t-mobile and am currently on our most expensive plan but due to discounts my monthly bills come in about £47.50, because of this in the companys eye i am a low value customer and arent worth as much to someone who spends £200-300 (or even £2000-3000) a month, even though i am employed by them. so when it comes to my upgrade it works out cheaper and easier to cancel my contract and take a fresh....

Well thanks, first up, for your offer of help, it's very kind.
Can you tell me if the Nokia 6280, which has been only sporadically available via T-Mobile's web, retail and specialist stores, is designated a Web'n'Walk phone? t-mobile.de lists the phone as W'n'W (and presumably ready for DRM, browsing, streaming etc.) so I assumed it would be in the UK, but wanted to check.
Also do you know if T-Mobile's 6280 has Opera Mini pre-installed, and if so (long shot perhaps!) what firmware version T-Mobile intends to ship future versions with?
Thanks!

Did you not take up the option of adding the co-pilot gps system when you got the vario, I know it added to the cost of the phone (how much depended on the price plan you signed up to).
At least it is designed for the vario and tha mda's, the package comes with the software and the bluetooth gps sat detector. The only thing it could do with is a mains charger.

Hi pav, it cost £200 pound more to have the vario with sat nav. So i decided on the diy option. Got a gps reciever for £39.99 and now i have managed to get tom tom to work on it, the reciever works great. Not had one dropped connection, well worth the money, better than spending £100+ on other recievers.
Dont understand what you mean though about no mains charger??????
At that price I would have looked elseware, as long as the software is legal. It is strange that the co-pilot system only came with a car charger and a splitter cable so it could charge the receiver and the phone together.
I will check with T-mobile when they open tomorrow, but even the contents information only shows the car charging cable.

Hello Xionic, I've been with T-mobile a while now and have had various ugrades in the past, my last 18 month contract was up approx 2 months ago, and I have been waiting for the Nokia N80 to be released.. as some providers are now close to getting it I find out that T-mobile say they will not have this phone!!!!
I'd rather stay with Tmobile, but I really want the N80, it looks like one or the other... Problem is if I stay with Tmob and get an N70 is it likely that Tmob will then go and release the N80 a few weeks later????
Thanks

we have no plans to released the N80 directly in our stores or online/telesales, though if you try a third party such as Carphone Warehouse, Expansys or Mobile Fun you may get the N80 on t-mobile. though im not a big fan of the N80 i would prefer (and am really hoping) that t-mobile release the N91

Ok, thanks for the reply, however am I in danger of getting something else with T-Mobile and then they are likely to get it at a later date?
Why I say this is T-mobile said that they tend to take a little longer releasing new phones because they run their own tests!?
I cant seem to find a "Coming Soon" part on T-mobiles website, like on other providers sites, how can I find out, what is being released in the near future?

I'd just go with an operator that does offer the N80. O2 is supposed to be a lot better these days; and I think their data plans are better value than Vodafone's. Also, the phone will likely be unlocked. You can always go back to T-Mobile later. If T-Mobile CS asks you why you're leaving, just explain your logic; or, offer to stay a customer with an N70 if they promise to upgrade to an N80 if/when it comes out. If CS says no, just walk away - simple.

yea u could get it on another network, though dont think anyone can really challenge our Flext +W&W plans (especially with my 50% Employee Discount  ) , as i said no word on if/when the N80 is going to be releeased on t-mobile. though we dont usually find out until a week or so before, the only nokia planned is the E61 (Blackberry Rip-Off)

[quote]
If mawwam is likely to use a lot of data then yes, it is a lot to give up - even without the employee discount :). At which point it becomes a straight comparison of (a) the difference between what you pay on (say) 02 and T-Mobile, and (b) what you think it's worth to you every month to have an N80 instead of an N70 or whatever. Personally I would go with another operator if I really did want an N80, as I always have the option of returning to T-Mobile after 12 months.
One idea might be to follow what happens at T-Mobile in Germany, Austria, Holland etc.. AIUI from a conversation with TMUK CS, all of T-Mobile's branded country operations have the same handsets made available to them, but some of them just choose to launch later.
