Thanks for all your help - I called the Exec Office and finally got put through by them to the Area Manager for the Orange store we were getting grief from - whilst it looks there is nothing I can do in this instance at least I've learnt VALUABLE LESSONS WHICH I WANT TO PASS ON TO ALL OF YOU

1) Orange Retail is a SEPERATE COMPANY TO 150 (CS) and website - so DONT USE STORES, UPGRADE ONLINE OR BY PHONE (CS aint interested in problems brought about by the stores and yet the stores say "if you aint happy go away and call CS"

2) Upgrades in stores are irreversible - so if the phone you had your heart set on turns out to be a turkey - tough luck - you cant do anything about it 24 hours later (or even an hour after getting it home)

3) Upgrades by phone and web can be cancelled by you within 7 days of receiving the phone - SO unless you are absolutely sure of the phone you want, NEVER, EVER UPGRADE IN AN ORANGE SHOP

I upgraded in an Orange store and got a replacement for a faulty handset under the 28 day money back guarrantee, through 350 customer services. No problem whatsoever. I was not aware that Orange retail was a seperate franchise....maybe some of them are and some them aren't.

And how do they by-pass the sale of goods act? All stores are obliged to have a period in which you can return faulty goods.

Probably the best thing to do is to pester the crap out of them till they cave in, because that sounds like they have told you what can only be descibed as utter ****e..

Not a faulty handset as such just cr*p interface - I'm 3g but my girlfriend isnt yet - bet not many of you know it can take up to 5 different buttons to be pressed in order to get an apostrophe on the new Samsung D600 whilst sending a text (none of the reviews mention stuff like that) plus that GOD AWFUL ORANGE HOMESCREEN IS EVEN WORSE ON A SMALLER SCREEN!!!!

Yes, she did look at the phone quickly before buying it and tried to get used to the way things operated on the phone but couldnt get the hang of it. Yes, you may say its our fault that she doesnt like the phone and tough luck for us expecting Orange (Retail or 150 customer services) to show some flexibility buy hey, we've only each been with Orange for 10 years and probably both passed £10,000 of revenue their way over that time.......

The future's...... something (and it rhymes with bright)
