Hi,
Just got my 6680 on upgrade from o2.
I expected to be able to make video calls.
When I called to ask they said they don't yet support it.
What's going on??
Confused.
Cheers.

They do, I have used the video calling. Did you get a 3G sim card with your upgrade, as this is required to use the 3G network?
What number did you ring?

I got it as an upgrade to my existing contract with Carphone Warehouse.
I did get a new sim with it but when I called to register it they told me to "keep it as a spare" and continue using the old one.
When I called them and told them they seemed confused and told me that they dont do video calling yet.

It was CPW that I phoned.

I fairness, O2's 3g services are very limited in terms of coverage. They may have meant that 3g is not available in your area? No 3g = no video calls.
Better off calling O2, that new SIM may not be spare only.

I live with my brother who has the same phone but from o2 online and he gets a 3g signal... I'm ringing them again now.

OK... They tell me that because I am not directly an o2 customer it is not yet available. Expected to be ready by November. Sounds like bull to me - it's the same network, what's the problem?
I'm not going to be a big video call user but I do want to see how it is. Especially given that they tried to sell me the phone on the strength of this feature.
Oh well.

for o2 you have to use the new sim card as it's an USIM and that card is the only way on to the o2 3G netwrok, a normal SIM will not work but as you didn't buy direct from o2 you won't have it as only o2 give out the USIMs.

Today CPW told me over the phone they they dont do 3g. This is despite giving me a 3g sim last week and having been using video calls all this week. The operator didnt believe me! I was trying to get o2 Active on an N80. Gave up in the end

Try using the O2 website to send the settings to your phone. If that doesn't work tell us what error messages you are getting.

Right. Listen and Listen good. CPW are idiots. They almost certainly never gave you a 3G sim card. They have done it umpteen times. Take it back and complain.

.
O2 is your network provider but CPW is your Service Provider.

What's the video calling quality like? Coverge map says full coverage at my home and work addresses. Am thinking from moving from Vodafone 3G to 02.

video calling on o2 is crap, coverage is naff i was on three could allways make a video call in all but the most remote places when my contract is up in about 3 months will be going back on three coverage is much better. was at flamingo land yesterday could't even make a call no network signal.
