Sorry if this question has been posted before (i did a search on this forum but couldn't find anything).
I've just unlocked a 3 phone and want to use it on Orange with my 2G SIM card.
But I want to know if I can access Orange's 3G network (and make video calls, use high speed data etc) with my Orange 2G SIM card?
Any help appriciated, thanks. :)

No, Orange, like 3, use the new USIMs to access 3G. Vodaphone, AFAIK, are the only network which uses current 2.5g sims.

Virgin SIMs work on 3g

If Virgin SIMs work, do 2G T-Mobile ones work also?

Orange uses proper 3G authentication, with the authentication keys being based on quintets instead of the triplets that 2G uses. Therefore, you can't authenticate on the 3G network using a 2G SIM, as the data passed is different. During the 3G user trial on the Orange network, the network was frigged to work by authenticating by IMSI and the normal 2G authentication keys, which is how I presume Vodafone and T-Mobile are doing it.
Cheers,
Jez

Don't know about the authenticating IMSI - would that work with an unlocked 3g phone from another network? My ex-3 7600 works with both Voda and Virgin in full 3g mode
