If you are at the end of your contract get a PAC code and transfer your number to another network. Your Vodafone will then automatically be disconnected.

Yes Vodafone has the worst disconnection policy (letter must be sent) with other networks all you do is call them

This is directly from Vodafone pay monthly terms

1. Length of agreement

"Continues for the period of 12 months running from the date of the connection of your mobile device or your upgrade or recommitment (as appropriate) unless your price plan specifies a longer period, in which case the longer period applies. If you wish to bring the Agreement to an end you must give one calendar month's written notice to expire on or any time after the expiry of the minimum period"

Without a written 30 day notice Vodafone legally can decline to disconnect you

"Without a written 30 day notice Vodafone legally can decline to disconnect you"

Why? if you have been with them for 12 months you have legaly completed your contact.

No, you haven't. The contract continues until one of the parties terminates it. It just has a minimum term, meaning you can't terminate it within the first 12 months. After the 12 months is up, the contract is still valid and you can continue to use your phone; you have to provide notice and then the contract will be terminated and your line disconnected.

Even if the companies don't specifically request termination letters, it's best to send one anyway and keep a record that you have done so. Occasionally "misunderstandings" arise between CS agents and the customer, and the account isn't properly terminated despite the fact you think it is.

you can fax a letter too. i did this by fax last november to cancel an older number. one of the staff on here might have the number handy

if you send by post do it recorded delivery then you always have it to fall back on

i agree that its better to send the letter by recorded delivery. For your own piece of mind you know what date the letter has been delivered so then know when the contract should be cancelled. not sure they accept faxed letters anymore. i had a look on the website and the fax number wasn’t listed.

I'd defo send a letter in recorded delivery, saves any hassle if the letter isn't delivered by royal mail, as the letter is your responsability until recieved by VF.

Ok. Just toying with ideas. I've got a 3 yr old 6680 that I was to upgrade but I'm such a light user I doubt I'd be eligible for any decent upgrade like an N95 so I think I'll be looking to terminate this contract and start a new one.

I seem to recall that O2 will allow you to migrate a contract number to an PAYG one.

I've just cancelled with Voda today after four years; I found the service to be generally okay, and the Customer Service first rate - but there were too many cock-ups and surprise charges appearing on my bill each month.

I've just come out of contract after 12 months (although initially I was told that I was on an 18-monther - another error that was thankfully quickly rectified) and asked for my PAC. After a few questions and offers to change my tariff, they said yep, they'll put it in the post and I'll have it in 3-5 working days. No letter or fax required.

I faxed them and requested on the Fax they send me written confirmation to my registered address (I don't have a fax machine, used one at work) if I don't hear anything within a week or 2 I'll send a letter registered mail.

I also requested that Retentions/Sales don't phone me either I really can't stand cold calling.

Contract doesn't end to June but I want to make sure I've given them more than the required 30days notice.

Got nothing against vodafone service was always good and C/s were helpfull when i needed them but I'm Fedup with contracts.

Is there a normal number to FAX vodafone on because the 0870 number i cant fax to, it needs to be a geographic number.

Thanks,

Daniel

Do you still need to write to request a PAC?

Eleethal

No. Call up customer services, they'll pass you through to Saves, request PAC.

Also, I noticed you're considering cancelling your contract to setup a new one for a Nokia N95. Instead of jumping straight into bed with the idea of a Nokia N95 think what you really need a phone for. If alls you do is call and text, maybe try a Nokia 6500 Classic. No point in having a handset which you'll never use the features on, it's like buying a dumptruck for your commute to work.

I'm not going to be starting a new contract with vodafone. The main reason it the signal around here seems to be getting poorer. It can't just be my phone because my dad has noticed it with his as well.

At the moment I'm torn between the N95 on t-mobile who have been providing 3g around my home town for a couple of years. Or the new iphone but o2 don't provide any 3g yet.

Have you checked if Vodafone provide 3G signal around your house? Assuming that you are refering to no GSM signal available.

Don't get the iPhone on o2 purely for the reason you'll be paying atleast £720 for a "Half decent" tarrif over an 18 month contract, and the phone itself has sub-standard features in comparison to, say, Windows Mobiles which are available.

Again, consider what you really need out of a handset before buying one on impulse. If you need a phone for Entertainment, camera, try a Sony Ericcson C902. If you want a phone which is touchscreen, try a HTC Touch Diamond / Samsung F480 (Tocco). If you want something run of the mill which works well, go for a Samsung Soul.

The N95 8GB is a good phone with great features, but it's a old, quite large handset which most people buy just to say they have one.

Yeah, it's totally non-existant. Looking at the maps, rollout seems to have totally stopped.

i may be wrong but every time a sales is made, they alwys mention a rolling contract just before the deal closes and they click ok onthere comp. to start it. a rolling contract needs the 30 notice otherwise it will just keep going on and on ..
a bit like im doin now...

Most companys require 30days written notice to cancell the contract I found the easiest way was to just Fax them.
