Vodafone Australia unveiled the first of its Vodafone live! 3G-capable handset range, ahead of its commercial launch in October 2005.

The new range includes the latest handsets from the world’s leading manufacturers including the Motorola V1050 ( above ), Sony Ericsson v800i, Nokia 6680 and the Samsung Z500. Vodafone will reveal pricing details at launch and says its global buying power will generate savings that can be passed on to customers.

The range of Vodafone live! 3G-capable handsets feature high resolution cameras, video calling, and advanced audio features enabling music storage and digital quality playback.

From launch, Vodafone live! customers with 3G-capable handsets will be able to choose from five information and entertainment channels. The music channel will give customers access to approximately 500,000 full music tracks as well as music video clips from leading artists. The TV and video channel will offer TV episodes created specially for the small screen, while the news and weather channel features breaking news bulletins. Sports fans can view up-to-the-minute score updates as well as the latest highlights and gamers will be able to play their favourite titles on the move via the games channel.

According to Richard Sherwood, General Manager of Mass Markets at Vodafone, the company’s unmatched buying power, global partnerships and experience will give Vodafone customers the greatest range of handsets - from affordable devices to the absolute cutting edge in technology, as well as delivering the best content on

Richard Sherwood said: “The new Vodafone live! experience sees the convergence of portable entertainment gadgets – such as MP3 players, digital cameras, portable DVD players and portable gaming consoles – into one, easy-to-use, pocket-sized mobile phone.”

From October, customers in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra will be able to experience the full range of new Vodafone live! with 3G services. Vodafone will then roll out the network in Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide in 2006.

Final pricing information and additional launch handsets will be announced closer to the October launch.

Vodafone live! with 3G will allow customers to catch up on popular television programs - either downloaded or streamed straight to the handset. Catering to virtually any interest, Vodafone live! will revolutionise mobile entertainment. This will be delivered through partnerships with leading media brands, often delivering content exclusive to Vodafone.

Latest news and sport
Vodafone live! customers can choose to receive international, local and financial news video bulletins, including up-to-the-minute sports scores and video clips showing the latest action. Video calling – across the globe Vodafone’s global network will enable users to make international video calls. The service will bring families and
friends closer in contact with the added feature of vision – a far more intimate, interactive and personal way to maintain relationships.

Gamers using Vodafone live! will also benefit from the 3G network’s increased ability to accommodate larger downloads and better handset technology.
