If on contract also check that you have roaming enabled. Not all 3 phones have this by default

I'm on contract and I had a text from 3 a good few months ago saying that international roaming had been activated on my handset and I never asked for it and I think that quiet a few other people did have as well (I think that 3 had a sudden change of policy as before that you had to have another credit check before they would activate it, unless thay just gave it to people who pay their bills on time anyway).

I've just had a look on the Three website and apparently you can roam on Threepay now as well but you need to top-up with cash credit (£ 5, £ 10, £15 as you can use your inclusive minutes/texts)

and it specifies that the 3pay roaming facility is available in Cypress (North) but not Cypress (this is available to pay monthly customers) and the cost to you is : -

Voice call : to other countries/bands* £2.40p per minute to make 90p per minute to receive

Voice call :to UK/other same band countries* £1.40p to make per minute 90p per minute to receive

Text messages: 25p to send, Free to receive

For Pay Monthly customers its still the same cost to make calls but only 50p Per minute to receive them.

Yep, it'll work but it will cost LOADS!

The best bet is to take a GSM (unlocked) phone and buy a Cyta PAYG sim card when you get there...calls are really cheap both within Cyprus and back home to the UK.
