Hello 02 Staff! lol
I have just spoken with 02 CS and wish to confirm b4 doing anything!
I am currently on 3 pay and am getting increasingly annoyed with them. So if i goto my nearest 02 store, get an o2 3g usim and then ring 3, for the unlock code for my MOTO e1000, i can get my 3 number transferred to 02 free, and go on the 02 online tariff 300 free texts per month thing. If I were to do all this, how would I get rid of the 3 brading on phone startup etc and change it to o2?
Thanks!
If you are on threepay I'm not sure what the price or process would be for unlocking. You should be able to take the phone to a local phone shop or the market or something and get it unlocked for about £10.
The tariff you want is only available through the website so you would have to order it from there, it's not available in o2 shops. I'm not 100% on this but I'm quite sure that you have to order a 3G phone to recieve a USIM, otherwise they just send you a normal SIM card with no option to upgrade it to access 3G services. You can mail them mycare*o2mail.co.uk to double check on this.

I thought you can use normal sims and when your registering it they ask you whether you want 3G or not.

o2 CS told me that I can get a USIM from any o2 shop for 9.99, and that i could then ring 3 CS, and they would have to provide the unlock code free for my moto e1000
I actually emailed them asking about upgrading a pay and go SIM to 3G (not a particular number, just in general) a few days ago and this is the reply I got
Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service.
You will need to purchase a 3G-enabled mobile phone with a 3G-enabled SIM card if you wish to use the 3G services. Currently we are unable to change your SIM card to use the 3G services.

I got a payg usim for free by saying 'i think you should send it me for free so i can spend more money on your services'. I had previously spoken to three other csa's who told me they dont even do them!

Fox is correct. O2 will not supply a 3G SIM-only pack. Policy is to replace an existing SIM (with a traceable SSN) only.
Sorry.

I think its just a case of luck when you call them.
Some csa's i've personally spoken to dont even follow basic security procedures to confirm you are, who you say you are.
Sometimes asking for a supervisor can prompt them into submission.
And they are very good at calling you back for free straight away if you ask them.:D

Please don't assume that this is good advice. ;)
