I am currently thinking of leaving my service provider of Orange, and venturing onto a 3g network, mainly because of the football goals, and highlights.

I see that Vodafone have rights to these (along with 3), and that there are 2 specific vodafone 3g tariffs, but I do not need 500 mins (at £40). I also understand that the 3g services can be used by 3g phones on Vodafone (eg V800), that are not on these 2 3g tariffs ie anytime 200. I can see the price of the video calls on this plan, but how much do content downloads cost?

Also does anyone know if you get access to a POP3 account through vodafone, and how much downloading the emails will cost.

Thanks for any help you give.

To the best of my knowledge it doesn’t matter which tariff you are on as long as you have a 3G phone. But you won’t get the introductory offers on the non 3G plans.

Data costs £2.35 per MB which can add up. Sometimes they charge extra for videos but it tells you before you download. (Anything from 50p to £1.50 ive seen). You can buy extra's packs which give you data at half price eg £3 for £6 worth of data.

Yes you can connect to Pop3 and charges are as above - per MB

Hope that helps!

If you buy online you get batter value. I have got for £30 per month the following:

- 200 minutes - any time / any network

- stop the clock because i chosen 18 month contract

- £60 extra bundle for free which adds upto 500 txts, 25mb of GRPS, 166 picture messages or any combination of these. This bundle tends to be known as the '500 texts' bundle or extras pack but it can be used for texts, pictures, gprs etc etc.

Hope this helps!

Cheers for the help, but I need to hold on to my number really, so one of the online deals is probably no good for me.

What are the vodafone 3g services like, I have seen some of the 3 services (footy and tennis) running and was impressed, how does it compare??

Maybe £40 is the only way to go at the mo, as expect the footy highlights are going to eat into the download limit substantially.

It sounds like I will have to stick with orange for another year :o and see if things have moved on, and prices dropped?

Thanks for all your help.

When you recieve a phone ordered online you can ring them with the request to port your number in (need the pac obviously from your current network). week maximum to transfer.

You can also call them on the number shown when you view your basket and place the whole 'online' order on the telephone.

Same online special price and they can arrange number porting at the same time (no need to wait 'til you get your phone).

This just worked flawlessly for me, upgrading to a Nokia 6680.
