How Locked Are Tesco Mobiles?

Just wondering if anyone knows or has a Tesco Mobile to test this....


As alot of you probably know, generally Virgin and T-mobile phones accept each others sim cards as they are technically the same network.

Does this apply for Tesco and O2 as well???

Just that i like a phone tesco has but want to put my o2 online sim in it

Tesco mobile phones only accept Tesco mobile sim cards, they don't recognise o2 sim cards..

What phone is it that you like? You could just get it unlocked and then it will work for sure.

its a motorola c155 that my nephew wants, but theres no pint paying to get it unlocked as its pretty cheap, probably buy him a 3100 on o2 or summot, thanks for the help

i had a siemens mc60 on tesco and all sims worked on it including virgin, o2 genie and vodafone. dont know if it was a one off but it worked.

I really want the girly pink VK530 that I see they do on pay as you go Vodaphone in Tescos but would want to get it unlocked to put my 3 contract sim card in.

3 sims dont work in vk530s.

some do some dont .. i ve just put an o2 sim in a v220 works, 02 in mc 60 works nokia 3410 no dont work . virgin works in v220 and 3410 ?? not in mc 60 voda works in v220 not any others got a new unused samsunge720 . yes works that one is brand new just taken from box .....voda in sam yes moto v547 no yes yes.....any help... now to put them all back in boxes........tony

Whilst it is true that Tesco use bandwidth on the O2 network and use O2's network architecture, it must be stressed that from an operational point of view, O2 and Tesco Mobile are two entirely seperate businesses.

Tesco will unlock your phone if you have topped up with £30 or more, i requested the codes for my SLVR today and am assured that the codes will be ready between 7 and 14 days. :cool:

Update, Tesco have awarded me 150mins spread over three months, i suppose to discourage me to ditch my Tesco SIM. Seems good value to me!!!!!!!!!!
