Illegal Software Guidelines

General
The temptation of getting software for free is sometimes seen as great, but you need to be reminded that this is theft.

When asked by the copyright owner / author of software we will delete any posts which appear to promote illegal software.

Our members need to be aware that for legal reasons we may be required to supply IP address and email address of anyone offering illegal software via the 3G Forum.

ILLEGAL SOFTWARE RULES

IS1) 3G Forum does not condone the use of illegal software. No direct links to illegal software. These will be deleted. A direct link is something that you click to physically download the file eg jar or zip etc and the direct link is on the 3G Forum itself

IS2) If such messages are found then they will be deleted, and the author warned against such behaviour. Illegal software includes, but is not limited too, posts detailing warez, hackz, crackz, swapping of registration codes and/or programs, posting full commercial versions, and IMEI hacks.

IS3) If something can be bought under no cicrumstance is an illegal version of it to be posted or linked to on the forums.

IS4) Freeware or trial programs should only be posted as attachments if they are not available elsewhere, if they are available elsewhere link to them.

IS5) Our policy is non negotiable and there are no exceptions. We ask that, even if you do not agree with the policy you respect it.

IS6) Failure to comply is liable to result in the member in question being banned. You will also be reported to the software program author. The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions.

Torrent Programs and Files

Mainly used over the internet to upload/ download large files such as movies, TV shows, full music albums, and program software.

BitTorrent Client Program is used for downloading torrents -- files or directories shared by internet and mobile users.

This client alone cannot be used for sharing your own files. It's intended for opening and downloading .torrent files.

You are stealing if you download commercial programs, movies, music or software.

Program Serial Numbers / CD Keys

It is illegal to give away or let other people use your CD Key. This is your proof of ownership and by sharing it you are allowing theft to occur.

Using keys that are found on crackz or serialz websites leave you open to investigation for theft. Many software programs send information ( such as your IP address ) to the copyright holder.

Copied and Pirated Software

A pirate copy of software (or warez) is genuine retail priced software which you can download and buy without paying for it. So to use it is classed as stealing from the owner. Just like you went into a high street shop and stole a TV etc.

Always buy from the copyright holder or an approved agent / distributor,

Crackz

Crackz are the illegal way of bypassing software protection which attempts to prevent software piracy.

A crack is basically a small program which allows you use software illegally. Using software in this way is also theft.

MP3's
MP3s are both legal and illegal. It is legal when the song's copyright holder has granted permission to download and play the song.
However it is illegal to distribute or trade MP3s without permission from the song's copyright holder. So downloading a song from the internet without the permission of the copyright owner, is completely illegal.
