Just thought I'd let everyone know that if you have a 3G phone on the t-mobile service, incoming call connection is very ereatic. I have a 6630 and may have to try a number of times before being able to get through to my phone, if at all. Since setting my phone to use the standard GSM network, everything has been fine. Hopefully, t-mobile can get their act together soon!!

Must be your phone, I have been using the 3G network for T-mobile for the past 6 months with no problem

Possibly. Since Ive sitched to the standard network everything has been fine though. Maybe its to do with the location. I have a feeling that the 3G service will be better at home (London) than here (manchester).

Manchester should be ok, unless you are in the outlying areas, Manchester has had alot of 3G sites built recently.

No problem with Virgin while I'm in a 3G zone, and it's the same network.

depending where you are could cause issues. For example if you are situated on the boundary of 3G coverage and your handset is trying to hand over to 2G for a better signal.. It may do this all the time if your on a boundary... hence the problems with calls getting through...

I've only experienced problems making and receiving calls on 3G once, and that only lasted a few hours one morning, so I presumed it was some outage. Other than that I've found it perfect.

My only issue is with cell handover between 2G and 3G, as on my journey home from work I start in a 2G only area and unless I set my phone to GSM only I always get my call cut off when I enter 3G coverage. After the call is cut off the phone finds a strong signal again on 2G and then switches seconds later to a very strong 3G signal, at which point I can then dial again.

Going to work is fine, I start with 3G and it hands over to 2G no problem. If I set the phone to GSM only I get a strong phone signal on the whole journey both ways and never get cut off. I'm unsure whether it's worth me phoning up T-Mobile to report this as a possible network fault here?

To be honest - this is a charactoristic of the 3G / 2G handover process - and this issue of 'dropped' calls is experienced by all netowrks. So far no viable solutions are available, and so it is something we will need to put up with for a while... until the 3G network is all up together... there are big plans for T-mobile to roll out their full 3G network over the next 2 years
