BT is offering consumers a pay-as-you-go wi-fi, or wireless Internet access package, which it expects to appeal to the consumer market. The pay-as-you-go BT Openzone product will cost a registered user 20 pence a minute to connect to the Internet with no need to sign a contract or take a subscription.
BT has also cut the price of its BT Openzone-in-a-box - a product that enables small- and medium-sized businesses to install a BT wi-fi 'hotspot' on a premises - to GBP249.99 from GBP399, excluding value-added tax.
