Guys, I just bought an E1000 unlocked and have a T-mobile contract. SIM works fine, but have no idea what I need to set up 3G or any kind of connection on my phone. Any ideas?

Is your phone currently using voice calls on 3G?? You will also need to setup the GPRS settings and MMS settings. Let me know as I will be able to help you in some way.

Voice calls on 3G. Yes, I think it is able to do that. Well, I can make and recieve calls and theres always a 2.5G icon at the top of the phone..

Excuse my ignorance, I think 3G is still new technology for T-mobile! Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

First of all, call 0007 from your phone, If you get a blokes voice you are on 3G if you get a womans voice you are on 2G. The bloke should talk about Media Gateways and MSC Servers.

I get a womans voice when I dial 0007. Meaning I'm on 2G I guess. OK, so from here, what does this mean? What can I do on 2G and how do I set the phone up?

I can click on connection >> sync and then I get the following entries:

- Name
- URL
- User Name
- Password
- Data Paths

Hmm.. Any idea where to go from here?
Not sure if this is relevant, but remember, I'm using T-Mobile on what seems to be a phone setup for th 3 network.

Ohh, I'm ever so lost.

I use the SE Z1010 '3' branded phone on the T-mobile Newtork. The above settings are the same for 2G as for 3G, you get exactly the same, just slower.

You are going to have to try and get the setting i posted above to match up with the settings on ur phone some how, Either that or go to T-mobile's website ( www.t-mobile.co.uk) and send the settings to your phone, you will have to select another Motorola model, but they should work.

Ahh, think I'm getting somewhere now. OK, I went to the T-Mobile page, clicked on t-zones, getting started. Then went to WAP and MMs configurator.

Clicked on configure WAP settings, selected GPRS, choose the Motorola E550 and entered my number. A few seconds later, I got a message, updated my phone and selected T-Mobile GPRS as the new web sessions default profile. Clicked on it and it worked!

So now when I go to 3 services, launch 3 services, it takes me straight in!! Excellent! Thanks very much for your help T-Mobile Tech.

Is there any way of changing the menus so that is doesnt have 3 services on it? Or maybe updating the software on the phone somehow?

You can 'De-brand' your phone, not sure how it is done with Motorola, I'm doing it with my Ericsson, you might need a service cable. If you search the net you will find something
