why are people unlocking the c975

when apparentley (a few people on these boards told me) you cannot videocall and access gprs on the c975 with a vodafone live 3g or orange 3g sim. if you use these than the phone just becomes ordinary. :confused:

simply coz its available for about 50 quid - just try to get another phone with colour screen, MP3 and MMS for that amont of money.

Agreed, many 7600 owners are also very happy with their cheap unlocked phones.

so are 3 the only network you can do video calling? i've seen orange do this phone!

You can videocall 3G phones on Orange, Three and Vodafone. Watch out though because its 80p/min to call outwith 3's own network for videocalls.

No what i meant 3gsu was if i unlock and use orange sim can i still video call? 3's 30 day rule is stopping me staying with them.do they realise how many customers they must lose because of this?

Unlike the NEC models, the motorola allows you to change the APN settings for MMS/WAP.To make video calls with voda you only need to have your account activated for 3g by calling customer services, as for orange, i presume that this is also the case.

hi everyone.. I bought one of these c975s, had it unlocked and put my Orange USIM in it.. it picked the network up, then dropped it. Even when it sees the network (ive got excellent 3g and 2g coverage) the handset wont let me make a phonecall and calling my number gives a constant engaged tone?!? I fired a 2g SIM in, it found the network straight away, allowed calls to be made and rang when I called it. Has anyone had any similar experiences with other operators USIMs in a c975 and how have they got round the problems? Cheers in advance!

Did you set the video interactive gate to your orange number?

I've just tried it there.. when the phone is turned on, just as its thinking about things and while its on 2/2.5g it can make calls fine, even without altering the video gateway. As soon as its onto 3g its useless... no calls to be made or received. I've made a couple of posts elsewhere and it looks like the handset SW needs flashed to get rid of all the 3 "junk" in it. If anyone else has any other suggestions/ideas/knowledge then please post.. otherwise I'll update when i get the handset flashed.

Pls I have the c975 boot loader version 0.6.3.6 and SW version R245_U_82.21.91i can this phone be unlocked? even if I have to pay to unlock it.

did this phone have the permentantly lockes sticker on the box if so no unlock im afraid unless by imei
also the person saying about the range usim dropping network you need to update the firmware on your phone it happened to me on vodafone irelND WITH MY C975 AND E1000 flashing will fix the problem
