As expected. None of the GSM/UMTS (Integrated) networks will rush to dish out £150+ 3G handsets to get your average Nokia 3310 users to migrate.
Vodafone etc will carefully target their products at premium customers spending £25+ per month. Those already using WAP or Live services will shortly be invited to upgrade (when their initial contract period expires) to 3G. Meanwhile the product can sell itself on the High Street to customers who are Tech savvy and prepared to pay a premium.
The challenge for the networks is to ensure that the investment in the technology (in terms of handsets) delivers some revenue. One can clearly see that the big networks (who already have large subscriber bases) won't be throwing new technology at evryone as they have the data available to avoid that sort of 'hit & hope' strategy.
