I was wondering if its possible to get orange 3g or vodafone 3g on payg as threepay isnt really worth it anymore. So is it possbile to get a payg 3g service with orange or vodafone.

Nope, from what I've read there won't be any 3G PAYG on Orange or Voda for a while. I'm other people will have more details but there's the short answer.

YUP! Wife just bought one! It's a Motorola V980 and she says it is 'COOL' No Bluetooth or MP3 ringtones etc, but comes with memory card and MP3 player and the pricing for call and internet access aint bad,, though typicaly 3G complicated,, but it does what it says on the box and as we dont get a 3g signal with Three Pay we can at least get a 2g signal with the Voda one and have been promised full 3G reception 'in due course' which is 100% better than Three pay.
Well worth waiting for and I am told that mine is on the way for christmas!

EDIT;
Sorry for this,, I gave the wrong information on the last post... Having actually checked for myself I can now state that the V980 Does allow MP3 ringtones, and picture ID on the phonebook. It is an excellent phone.

Good on Vodafone. Orange will no doubt allow PAYG access to their 3G range at some point next year. I'm very impressed with Vodafone's start though.

I think consumers need to be cautious at the moment. Too much is changing to purchase any handset right now.

Orange won't even allow people like me with an Orange account and my own 3g phone to have the service, whereas Voda let me have it on PAYG :mad:

What! No MP3 Ringtones, I cant think of a recent Motorola that doesnt have this feature

Does anyone have any idea on the Vodafone 3G PAYG Tarrif(s)?

There is no special PAYG "3G tariff". Whatever call plan you are on now with Vodafone just add 55p p/m for video calls! Don't know what the pence per Kb rate for wap/email/data over 3G/GPRS is... but its not a lot as far as I can tell!! (Its that little I don't really care!)

I just got my pay as you go Vodafone SIM activated for 3g, and put it in my 7600. The coverage, it has to be said, leaves a lot to be desired. Although they have only just started covering Sheffield so it should be getting better. The call clarity seems good, and i am suprised how fast the GPRS browsing is, its brilliant!
