I thought this wasn't meant to happen ?

I have just bought my wife a Vodafone vk207i as an xmas pressie

And as she is putting her old voda sim into it , I nicked the sim that came with the vk207i

To my surprise, I now have Voda 3G on my a925 on PAYG !!! cool!

I thought this was not possible though ?

right ! now I have had a bit longer to play with it - it seems all I can do is make voice calls - I have put the GPRS settings in , and I just get a picture of a couple of satelitte dishes and a message saying "This service is unavailable ,you are outside of the coverage area " (looks like a vodafone thing to me , never seen it before!)- I don't know if I need to ring Vodafone to get GPRS activated on my sim or what ?
also , I hava found that Video calls cannot be initiated from the handset

Dont know if these are just stumbling blocks - or if Vodafones policy is to let anyone with a sim & 3G device on to the network but only allowed to make voice calls & text
unless they are subscribed appropriately ?
Anyone got any ideas ?

According to another poster you need to call up and get the SIM activated for 3G. Whether they'll do this for a PAYG I'm not sure, but give it a go.

youre not supposed to be able to (as I understand it ) or at least they are not offering any deals - but I have made plenty of calls this afternoon with the 3G indicator on

Haven't had a chance to ring CS and get my sim activated for GPRS yet - as soon as I do I'll post my results up

Yes GPRS is available on most GSM networks even for PAYG subscribers.

Yes

I have just been into my local Voda store and seen the SE v800 and the Moto E1000 on pay and go Voda.

And yes it was the official Voda store
