LOOKS / FEATURES
Looks
My first impression of the E1000 was good. Compact, great 3 tone finish in black, grey and silver. This looks trendy to me. Its not too weighty. Weighs in at 140 grams - a reasonable weight. The handset has a cool image for a candy bar style handset.
Front
The Motorola E1000 has a 5 way navigation joystick to scroll through and select menu items/ applications. In addition there are 2 soft keys to select lower screen display items.
Left
The left hand side of the phone houses the shortcut keys for volume, voice call and video call.
Right The right hand side of the phone houses the shortcut keys for browser, camera, clear, power and the headphones socket.
Back The back of the phone features the reverse camera and the cover for battery/ SIM access. The cover can be removed with ease.
Bottom This houses the charger socket and USB connector socket.
Antenna Internal antenna.
Navigation The Motorola Synergy operating system drives a simple to follow and use navigation menu. You could also say its appearance is somewhat bland.
Keypad The Motorola E1000 has a 5 way navigation joystick to scroll through and select menu items/ applications. In addition there are 2 soft keys to select lower screen display items.
The joystick sits just above the keypad and gives a neat appearance and fast track access. The joystick is small in height and diameter and people with larger fingers may find this a bit awkward to use.

SUMMARY AND SCORE
If you are up for a candy bar style handset with sleek looks this could be the choice for you. This is a user friendly 3G multimedia handset. I suspect the majority of sales for this mid range handset will come from people who dont want a blazing yellow coloured handset with flashing lights or a fully featured business like PDA ie the A1000.
Kevin Thomas scores the Motorola E1000.
