View Full Version : High Street Majors now Offer Vodafone 3G
It was stated that Vodafone would be keeping stock of their new 3G handsets for distribution by their own outlets until after new year.... not so!
From today CPW and The Link have the Motorola e1000 and the a980 on the standard Vodafone Live tarriffs.
Looks like Vodafone have kept this move up their sleeves!

Fair nuff ..... The above move is pretty significant though...
Good to see the technology being distributed much faster than anyone would have expected.

There have obviously been relatively few issues so far. It also suggests that decent supplies of the handsets are available.

CPW website sold them from day 1 !
The delay was simply distributing handsets .
Seems like a smooth launch so far.

Hmm kept for the Vodafone shops, which are always WAY more expensive!!
Convieniant.
"Hmm kept for the Vodafone shops, which are always WAY more expensive!!"
No they are not.... they have special 'Hero' tarriffs that nobody else seems to be able to offer yet. Handsets seem a bit dearer in Vodafone stores but I suspect like everything else you'd need to work out if you'd make the saving back on the tarriff... my fag packet arithmetic suggests you should and get 100 mins voice + 100 texts + 50 mins free videocalling as a bonus!

So yes they are way more expensive.
Well yes - if you cant do the arithmentic and work out the cost of the full package over a year!
I suggest you go and find out about the different deals on offer before making such silly comments!

I suggest your paying 45 quid for a payg and in vodafone god knows how much for the phone and 25 quid 30 quid a month for your tarriff.
Thats rich coming from you isn't it!!!
Eh - what is all that about? PAYG?? Gibberish!
OK so you cant do the sums and work out what offers more - fine discussion ended!
No point!

Indeed it does, problems seem to have been pretty isolated. The major issue was a slowness on launch day getting everyone activated, but Vodafone seemed to address it head-on and kept good rapor with customers.
Sarin must be pleased with himself. Now I'm curious to know what kind of numbers they're shifting...
A guy in a Vodafone shop on Mon told me they had sold 50,000 since last week which i very much doubt more like 5,000 if that but would be interesting to find out though can anybody help ?

That link seems to have been asterisked out in part. In order to get to the page you need to select Online Store from the Voda homepage, Special Offers from the top of the column on the left and then Anytime 500 3G offers. Prices are as per the stores (i.e. V800 is still £150). They don't seem to be offering the Hero1000 at the moment though.

Funnily enough I went into a Voda shop to discuss my "needs" and explained that I was a high data user and wanted my phone to act as a modem for a PDA. The shop assistantly simply told me the 3g services weren't for me then, didn't mention the hero tariff or make any attempt to make a sale. how dumb is that.

Gajet, there is an alternative - but you may have to ask for at your Vodafone shop...
As I mentioned in another thread, these are "business" voice & data tariffs - not shown in the "Consumer" brochure (which is for "Winter 2004").
These deals are apparently for the “duration of the contract”
Anytime 500 & 80MB for £76.50 per month
Anytime 1000 & 80MB for £94.00 per month
I understand that these are VAT inclusive and will presumably incur the standard (£150) charge for the handset.
My local store manager referred to a binder full of basic (black on white) pages of information that included the detail on these tariffs. He also suggested that he had been on more intensive training. Might I suggest you go back and ask to see the manager.
Hope this helps.
