hi all
i have an ordinary t-mobile. it works well most time, but seems that there's something in my house that avoids t-mobile signal, but don't ask me why or how!?
other people who also live here and have a t-mobile have the same problem. if you go outside it will work better, but not very much. i think it's related to the fact that my house is in sort of a vale, and that blooddy t-mobile is not working well (seems that only vodaphone works inside, lemme see...)
so i decided to move to another network and seems that 3 has good plan prices and also can offer some 3G stuff. i would prefer to have a talk plan only, but if i can get a lot of 3G fun stuff + free talk minutes + dozen sms for less than any other company offers, i would stick with 3.
well, then i found a lot of complains about 3 services and CS, and i heard about calls over 5 mins cut, cut when changing from 3G to 2/2.5 nets, poor signal all time, sms lost in limbo, calls going to voicemail even when mobile on and with signal, etc.....
well, than i ask you: do you have this sort of problem these days? what kind of problems do you "usualy" have with 3 - apart of apart of 3G features not disponible from time to time?
sorry about this long post guys!
i would really stick with them if i really get a FREE PLAYSTATION 2 as it's offered!!!! huhooo!

Call dropping can still be an issue, this is due to depth of coverage and the amount of callers using your local cell. 3 have gone for spread rather than thickness of coverage to cover more of the population. This also explains why an incoming call may go to voicemail even though your handset is on and in signal. This will of course only improve as 3 place more masts and improve their depth of coverage. Technically if you are completely unable to get a 3g signal your phone should drop down to roam on O2's 2g signal, this doesn't work quite as well as it should and handing over between 3g and 2g if your are moving is guaranteed to drop your call. SMS can on occaisions take a long time to reach your handset, but this is not the norm and older handsets used to merge newly recieved SMS's into previously recieved ones. This should not be the case with the newer handsets as it was a software issue. Three are a value telco company so if you looking for low costs, then they are for you. If reliability and other factors are more important you may want to look elsewhere.
You can't loose by taking a new contract out and having a good play, you get 14 days to return it if you aren't happy.
Not sure what you mean by free 3g stuff, downloadable content has to be payed for, unless you get an add on.

huummm so seems that they're not pretty much damn highly reliable..
i won't lose a client or something as i don't use it for business - maybe a call from an emproyer, well.. - but it can be a bit painfull if my wife can't reach me easily. you know, women get upset very fast ;)
i know that 3 is having a lot of new costumers due to their price, so their cells are probably getting too crowded. i'd better do that 14 days trial.. let's see.
about using O2 roaming, do you have to pay an extra fee for that or 3 simply uses O2 network, without noticing you? of course, you'll know you don't have any 3G signal, but is it like being under 3 network's umbrella or is it a normal roam?
when you say that you are on move and you call is cut, you mean something like going on a long journey (like crossing London), or it happens on short distances as well?
ps: i said free 3G stuff because i won't really need it, but if i want to test it i, have access to. using my old t-mobile crap all i have is wap sites (when it's working).

Roaming on O2 doesn't cost you a penny, when it comes to charges there's no difference when it comes to using the 2G compatible services (voice calls, texts, MMS all cost the same). In 3 parlance you're in the "Picture and Text Area" Costs 3 a fotune however so they'd rather you didn't do it (if you only have "Picture & Text" coverage then I'd imagine they'll be very disuasive in selling you a phone) very recently they'd monged the SIMs that come with new phnoes (mine included) so they don't work in 2G phones (apparently they used to, but 3 caught customers doing this and sent them new - monged - SIMs)
Oh, and as a 3 customer, I'd kill for access to WAP sites!

i spoke with a guy in the store and he was very very honest: he said "don't buy 3. they're rubbish, worse than t-mobile".
well, i think i'll follow his advice. i've seen another packages in organge aswell.
thanks anyway guys. i will return when 3 get a bit better.
btw, i was very happy with my wap access when i got it the first time, but really, i just can access hotmail. not even t-mobile has a wap site, so there's no much use, and it's damn slow.

hey jomontana, in contrast my experience with 3 has been great. ive been with them 7 months and i have had 3 dropped calls in that entire time. my text messages r just teh same as other networks, they get there on time etc. and signal is perfect (i live in Sunderland Tyne and Wear). its been a couple of months now since ive not had a 3g signal so 3 must be doing something good. obvioulsy everyone has a different view on 3 but my personal opinion is that it is great! better than any other service and price wise.
