Can anyone comment on the best of the 2
PLease vote and leave reson why
Considering the V800 is about 1 year newer than the Z-1010 it'll come as no surprise that it will be the most popular.
I like the style and facilities offered by the V800 and look forward to the clones that will appear on all the other networks very soon.

Smaller, lighter, one camera (no menu selecting, just twist it!). I played with the clam Motorola in the store which was even smaller but the stubby aerial let it down.

i have a z1010 on orange 3g and i have voted for the v800.
i love the simple design of the z1010 but i dont like the dual cameras (poor quality) its a little chunky also, with the size of the flip compared to the size of the main screen it feels like i'm looking at a better quality t610. the screen is to small. however i do really like it and the z1010 built quality is superb so i need to have a bit more of a play with the v800 to compare. by the way is the DRM thing for mp3 ringtones vodas doing or will all v800's on all networks have the same.
cheers

It mat be a Voda thing. But I suspect ORange will do the same "if" they bring it out.
But the software from the SE site works a treat

thanks jon3g
the z1010 has no DRM. i can have any mp3 as ringtone
edit:
have just checked the screen specs and they are the same size 176x220.
all that casing for not so big a screen
Id say the same thing as 3GSU,V800 is one year newer, has 1 megapixel camera, colour external screen and looks prettyer etc.I been waiting for z1010 since Jan 2004 and i did give up waiting for it few months ago.I can not be exsiting about it anymore.Bizarre are the reasons why it toke so longe time for it to come to UK!!
But im glad in the way.Get my shiny V800 tomorrow. :D

I also have the Z1010 on Orange 3G but voted for the V800 because it's just superior. The Z1010 is a great phone, but the better camera and (afaik) up to 1GB card storage makes the case. However, I'd rather have Orange's 3G coverage than Voda's at the current time.

me too. the voda coverage map says i have 3g coverage but searching with the z1010 only finds 2g.

Cant really compare the 2 phones....
One looks like an early experiment the other looks like a great phone

I expect the V800 will come out on top in this poll basically because it is a lot newer and technically a far superior handset. I gather some people don't appreciate the retro-styling and piano black and consider some parts of it to be 'cheap and tacky' but personally I think it's great and certainly not cheap looking - especially when you see the screen and when it is in the dark.
The DRM thing is a Vodafone/SE thing - they do it on Vodafone's other recent Live phones too (K700 for example). I'm not sure if Voda do it for other MP3 ringtone capable phones or not. The Orange K700 doesn't have the same restriction and so I doubt a V800 on Orange would either. It isn't difficult to get round though - see my post on the matter. Actually I should probably copy that post to the V800 forum as well even though (currently at least) it is only a Vodafone issue.

I have both phones and compared the two last night.
I do prefer the Z1010 in styling, the size of the Z1010 is almost the same as the V800 but a little thicker (it really is not much of a difference at all).
I don't like the new really mini USB slot on the V800 and I don't like the external colour screen - it has no use, the power goes off almost immediately rendering it useless. I used to be able to glance at the screen to tell if I had coverage, missed a call, etc but now with the screen off I see this as a retrograde step.
The v800 camera however is very nice. I've always wanted a camera in a phone with a decent enough quality to print out (I know it's not going to be perfect but a 6 x 4 should come out ok).
I'm not a fan of the V800's styling, the casing just always looks dirty with fingermarks and that massive hinge on the back is just ugly. There seems to be too many buttons too, not sure why they needed them all - maybe to fill the space on the keypad.
The software in the two is pretty similar, I'm not a big fan of the included V800 themes but a quick transfer via bluetooth of the Z1010 themes soon sorted that one out.
The V800 has missed the most important video calling feature too, the Sony Aibo popping up as a demo!
Overall I would be happier with a Z1010 with a V800's camera but as that's not possible I guess I'll live happily with my V800.

thanks for that.
i also prefer the z1010 navigation keys to the v800's. i dont like the z600 style keys. they just look cheap. i do however prefer the v800 overall.
