View Full Version : 3 Services Down??

Good Evening All,

Right I have been trying to access 3 Services for the past few hours, and all I get is an error message, "Cannot Connect", anyway after another try I found my dad's 616v so tested to see if it was the same, low and behold, "Cannot Connect".

Does anyone know what 3 are up to in Coventry???

I think it is caused by base station upgrade.

Well, it appears to be a national thing (I'm in Gateshead and I had the same problems)

I'd have thought a local base station upgrade in Chichester would only affect service in Chichester, (that's where new2three is based and apparently that's what CS told them, CS mentioned nowt about an upgrade in Tyne & Wear, I got told to do something that didn't work although it appears to be back on now)

My guess is Services went 404 for a bit and have come back on - server crash, happens on the net

Usual network nonsense... 3 sevices are a luck bag at best.

You are might also be going through an upgrade. What did CS tell you

Yep I'm in Manchester and had the same earlier. My phone has now got no network at all so I can't check at the mo...

My LG often loses its network completely despite having full 3G and 2G coverage. If I manually log it back onto either 2G or 3G its fine...

UPDATE: having logged my phone back on, 3 Services is now working.
So now Today on 3 is greeting me by asking if I "Fancy a bunk?", presumably meaning that if I do I should buy their top shelf content...
Funny, I thought children could buy 3's phones too...

Haven't a clue (http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?t=10740)

My problem is getting the thing to respond (ie, the cursor moves left when I push the joystick left, not 5 minutes afterwards)

Triangle key defaults to a preloaded Services menu, go into Today and the progress bar goes right to completion... then I'm told I'm in a Picture & Text Area (as usual)

Looney
14-11-2004, 05:22 PM
Oh that ! wouldn't worry about that - new2three promises to leave most days

I've just received my text alert diverting me to the football page on 3...

Currently "Waiting for Reply"

(I'm also on hold to 333, why I'm calling them I have no idea, a long wait in store if it's national, guess they haven't finished with that base station upgrade down where new2three is, eh? :D)

Still waiting for Reply on the football vdeo page

Still listening to Norah Jones

Every base station in the country must be getting upgraded at once, it's the only answer!

I am now getting "you are outside the video service area - these services are available "

Fine - only I am NOT outside the video area and those services ARE NOT available !

But hey ! whats going without any services/messaging for 36 hours(that i've noticed)

Really shouldn't be so hard on the poor dears - After all , they are TRYING to run a network , not their fault they are useless ,

Let's just keep sending them our cheques and hope one day it all goes right by itself one day

My browser down, it must have happened about hour ago !!!!!!!!!

Geoneil
14-11-2004, 06:04 PM
Well, after a call totalling 21 minutes (20 of which were spent on hold) there are still no services no Today on 3, the link in the text alert 3 sent me doesn't work and the man in India refused to believe that I was in a 3G coverage area (all 5 bars and the 3G icon clearly visible on my handset)

No mention of an upgrade of any kind

Just a suggestion to take my handset down to a 3 store and try my USIM in a different handset to see whether it's the handset or the USIM (it's neither, it's the network!)

new2three
14-11-2004, 06:21 PM
3 Network sucks, so does orange, T Mobile, 02, Vodafone,

But how does sucking affect people not being able to use their browser.

Is that particular problem covered by insurance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

graale00
14-11-2004, 06:22 PM

Sorry Graale00 but a couple of posters are slagging me off (Flaming) for what I have said in support of 3 in the past. I find the best thing to do is agree with them. Maybe then we can continue with the original thread.

Services are down in Birmingham too. 2 phones both with full 3g signal but browsers say i'm in a picture and text area.

Geoneil
14-11-2004, 07:09 PM
Seem to be down all everywhere, and it's been a good number of hours too.

3 told me to take the phone to a shop to see whether the fault is with the phone or the SIM (I know where the fault is, it's with the network) if that's what they've been telling everyone (which I doubt) then 3 shops across the country are going to be very busy. I'll be gpoing there anyway, the shop staff are more likely to listen.

UPDATE:

I have just called the dealer support centre in Glasgow. Apaarently THERE IS a fault. A network server in Birmingham has gone down, possibly affecting users nationwide. Engineers are working on the problem now. It is a priority 1 issue - normally priority 1s are resolved within 3 hours, so fingers crossed.

I will update you guys if I see services re-enabled!

Like I said, on 3 dealers and shop staff > Customer Services (something 3 need to sort out I think)

Hi

For the "reason", please read my post further up.

Also, 3 have told me that My3 will be offline until perhaps midweek. Sounds like a different server problem.

However, you can still call CS and they will tell you your allowances, or try My3 via the 3 website.

Looking above you'd think something like BBC-1 had gone off air or the like!

Anyway - I have full services including My3 and remaining minutes etc - checked - working fine @ 11.25PM

Hehe. Which means you have full 3G coverage. Something you said you struggled to get at your home location.

You'll be pleased to note that I have a signal (3 bars) but the silly 3 services are 'Unavailable - please try later" at this time.

Oh well - nothing new!

Thankfully I have broadband!

Yeah... and don't forget you have Sky too!!!!

Sky must be a subsidiary of Vodafone or Orange.

Perhaps you get bulk loyalty discount?

Well for us 3 customers, 3 services going down is a bit like BBC 1 going off air... back in 1953 when they were the only channel going!

Services were off through the day... and instead of a "You're in a Picture and Text Area" we're now getting a "Normal service will be resumed shortly" message... The menu for Today on 3 is up... but none of the links go anywhere :(

Please could you ring CS and let them know, Neil. It may be specific to your area / handset, or could be more serious.

I DID ring for people the other night, but it is better if more individuals do it.
