Nice idea but the profile of those actually buying ThreePay handsets make the prospect of those customers ever being major users of those services remote.

I doubt if many of those splashing out £20-25 on an NEC will ever use much of their credit on video etc. I'm on contract and i cant be bothered with the unlimited free content in the first month. So far (having seen it before) its only been useful to demonstarte to friends.

If we were all the same, what a sad world it would be.

Obviously what 3 are trying to do is encourage ThreePay users to spend more on the services - much needed to re-coup the subsidised phones and ... profit.

Not a bad thing but a business necessity as far as 3 are concerned.

Spot On.... but folks that buy £25 phones are not a great prospect for that stuff.

It's nice for new customers who have not experienced 3G phones/network as they get nearly a whole 3 package for less than the price of Xbox/PS2 game.

Does this run over the Christmas period as they'd make teriffic Christmas presents - hope the 3 network can handle the Christmas day rush as everyone opens the new 3 3G phones and starts to play on the features :D

I'll certainly be videocalling my friends/family for a few minutes each over the Christmas/new year days.

Happy posting!

I think that I have seen a advert in the newspaper for the NEC 228 on 3Pay where they're offering a free christmas gift pack with new handsets purchased which on the first chargable transaction before 6th Jan 2005 you will get 30 days unlimited content, 20 mins of video calls and 20 video messages.

I dont know if existing subscribers will get anything but this was for new connections

Anyway heres the small print

This free Christmas offer is valid for 30 days from the date when you first make a voice or video call, send a message or access chargeable content (an indication of cost will be shown on your mobile screen). Offer runs from 1st November 2004 to 6th January 2005. When your included voice minutes and credit run out, or the 30 day validity period expires, you need to buy a top-up. For more details on how to top-up, click on the top-up locator link on the main three.co.uk pages. Inclusive voice and video minutes excludes international calls, calls made and received while abroad, premium rate calls, directory service calls, non-geographic and special numbers. Tunes and Pix, Buy Games, Top Shelf, SMS and Alerts are excluded from the free content (but can be purchased using ý5 credit included in Top-Up).

And it says that Alerts are excluded from the free content, well I have a active Video Value add-on at the moment and I receive alerts without them costing me anything?

Thanks for the reply - appreciated.

Everything looks good after reading that :D

What I'm going to be doing is buy about 5 of these 3 3G ThreePay phones as presents for some of the family and friends. The one's I know that liked what they saw when I showed-off my 3 phone and content.

Looking good... I'm pleased.

Happy posting!
