i heard from a online mobile shop that 3's sim cards are bigger, so other networks' sim cards can't be used in 3's phone even if it is unlocked.
is it true?

absolute TOSH (unless your talking about an NEC which are just a pain in the @ss to unlock) !!! furthermore there is a guy in SOHO unlocking the LG phones for £3 it takes him 5 seconds and then any sim will work in the phone !!!
PS it is a lot harder to go the otherway and put a "3" SIM in a normal phone
PPS assuming you spend around £20~£25 per month on top ups/bills I can guarantee you, you will be better off just using the "3" sim that comes with your phone, (you will save a fortune)
PPPS (whew my P button is getting worn out) you are aware that if you look around you can get a deal including the nokia 7600 for the equivalent of £4.99 per month for 12 months, and this INCLUDES 500 mins to ANY NET at ANY TIME
not a bad deal huh

so we can buy 3's a1000 and then use other network by unlocking it. i will go abroad for long, so i want to use local networks to make calls when abroad, rather than 3.

There not bigger in size they are bigger in memory as they are USIMS, they hold 128kb I think, nothing compared to the new Samsung one i think... 128 MB!!

USIM's are basicly the same as SIM's.......but 3G USIM's cannot be used in a non-3G phone.
The new type of SIM made by Samsung is completly different from existing sims, its like a memory card, but with SIM funcations (rather than a SIM with lots of memory)
