if three's a1000 can be unlocked so that we can use other networks' sim card in this phone, what functions of this phone may be affected. i know some 3g service like video call may be unavailable. how about other functions?
thanks for help in advance.

If you put another 3G sim (Voda, Orange) you should be able to use the phone to it's full potential.
If you put a 2G sim in the phone you should still get good functionality, all you'll lose are the "walled garden" and Video calling.
It' a shame Three have one of the best smartphones on the market, yet cripple it by not allowing us any data access.

can we transfer directly softwares or mp3 files to a1000 and then use them, or we have to log on to three's walled garden to downloan everything that can be used in the phone. i want to download a digital dictionary into a1000, but it seems impossible.
any idea?

AFAIK you should be able to do things exactly the same way as with an A92x.

irrespective of the sim card you can put your own s/ware and music on the phone all you like !!! you just need to use the supplied USB cable
