Opinions - 3 Video Content.

Hi

I like 3 as a provider but I am abit disappointed by some sections of video content/areas.

What's your opinion?
What do you like/dislike about 3 video content?
What would you like to see on 3 video content?
Any area's you'd like added/removed?

Have you any further opinions/suggestions regarding 3 video content?

I will endevour to fax and or email this thread of opinions/suggestions to 3 executive and or 3 Customer Services (UK) so please (as always) be polite and balanced.

I think all of the video is overpriced and I personally wouldnt pay what they are asking for tiny clips on a postage stamp sized screen.

None of the current content is priced realistically when compared with what the money buys from alternative platforms.

Just look at the cost of Top-Shelf for example.... £5 for a 6 minute clip! OK its adult material so it's premuim stuff but the same money buys a whole evenings viewing on a decent sized screen on Sky (if you want that type of entertainment).

The same applies to sports clips although the 'unlimited' option makes those a bit better in terms of value. Overall the concept of pay-per-view video clips is questionable as a long term money spinner. After the novelty value has expired (and it does'nt last long!) I doubt if there will be many who will pay regularly for stuff that is available elsewhere cheaper and can be viewed more easily on a decent sized screen (Portable PC's + broadband/WiFi offer a better alternative too).

I put my opinions in another thread ina reply but I'll add it here also:

I would Like to see BBC video content added to 3. Latest news, news updates and also all OR any BBC sections of Bussines, Politics, Health, Education, Science/Nature, Technology and Entertainment.

The above areas/sections would make 3 a fantastic place to browse and choose areas that interests the customer.

Of course, on Orange 3G I just go to news.bbc.co.uk/mobile ;)

Three do have a good range of content though - I'd like to see things like music videos (and actual music downloads!) make it to other 3G services. If Three could just drop that walled garden they'd have the most comprehensive offering of any network for some time to come. Business news on Three was never too bad.

I'd like to see more TV clips and perhaps highly compressed streaming radio.

Yep must confess bbc mobile content is by far the best!

would also like longer news clips, the brief ones we get at the moment are somewhat lacking in detail, There is a great deal that could be done with video content, you only have to take a peek at the bbc website to see how much they are pushing the video clip side of things.
As for the walled gardens i am currently paying vodaphone about £30 a month for GPRS charges, i would be happy to pay three instead if i could have the facility of open internet access
I Think three need to understand that internet on a phone is never really going to take off due to screen size, OS capability, web site configeration etc but internet through the phone for PDA/laptop is a different matter and where the big bucks can be made. MOBILE DATA MOBILE DATA MOBILE DATA! isnt that what 3g is all about?
I dont want a PCMCIA card to go in my laptop i want a bluetooth phone acting as a modem!
I wonder how many business users are holding off from going 3G until there is someone that can offer the services that are needed.

I think the 3 Content is great,

It would be better if more was Free, but then again if you purchase the add-on its quite a good deal.

I like how 3 focus everything on video, makes you know u have something special

If given the option i would change/add/remove the following from 3's Content:

-i change the pricing structure; ie create a flat rate charge for each "type" of content. For example if u watch a News clip that day u will pay 50p and will be granted UNLIMITED ACCESS to the rest of the news for that day.

-I would love it if free radio access were introduced. Or even say 5p for an hours worth of listening.

-MORE TV CONTENT. ie like an review of "Whats On" tv that night showing clips with a commentary.

-Update the SERVICES page or even make it customisable!
or streamline it just to make it more easy on the eye.

-Getting rid of "Angry Kid" and replacing it with more "popular" comedy like say Peter Kay, Billy Connoly, victoria wood. and more clips from popular "cult tv programmes" like The League Of Gentlemen, Little Britain etc. Im sure this type of content would appeal to the masses.

-Alerts. Just my personal opinion but i find the ALERTS on Three pretty useless coz you are only told of when something is available. I would much rather it if the content was actually DELIVERED to ur handset. It saves time and effort!

-Reduce the price of ringtones and wallpapers to say £1. Its annoying if your on ThreePay and u only get £1.50 credit coz you cant even afford a ringtone. Im sure this would increase usage if they are a more acceptable price.

- Increase the amount of ways you can pay like "2 for 1" offers or "buy 2 get one free".

-create more "interactive" features. ie chat rooms, daiting etc...

- BRING DOWN THE WALL!!!!
