Japanese DoCoMo and Voda.J Phones

Will any of the DoCoMo and Voda.J phones be released here?

Because alot of them have slots for sim cards in them, even though they do not use them.

Also seeing as Vodaphone are launching this great new service, will we be able to import phones and work them on the Vodaphone UK network, without the worry of needing to unlock the phone?

Because there are already a decent amoung of japanese phones which will work on the current 3G service we have.

(i would love to get on there 2megapixel phones with the digital tv on! hehe)

1. vodaphone phones
u must be referring to the old pseudo-NEC-c303 phone
or the sanyo V801Sa
i only saw the v801sa being unlocked once, and i never heard anything aftwards, so i guess it's not gonna be unlockable (google it online, hackers have been trying and for mroe than a yr, no tangible luck yet)a 3G phone with similar deisgn is gonna be released on Orange 3G (google that too) leaked pics everywhere

the oldie NEC phone, i dunt think u'll want that

2. NTTDoCoMo phones
docomo refers to the 2.0G PDC service
u must be referring to their WCDMA service--> FOMA
remember hitchison should be strategic alliance with NTT? well, if u roam on a 3UK phone to japan, u'll find vodafone jp presetted. what does that mean? NTT FOMA network is not compatable with UMTS (or arguably 3gpp), updates are going on to make it compatible by the release FOMA 901i series and upgrades of network stations (press release next week, nov17 if i heard that right).
NEC is gonna announce a GSM/WCDMA phone in japan next week, the N901iG. which, im not sure if it's gonna be sim-locked. but everthing on that phone can be expected on new NEC 3UK phones Q1 2005, or u'll see sharps 902SH way beyond that.

FOMA phones use U-SIM cards. but up till now (out of all the models released through out the pass 2+ yrs), even if u can unlock them, they wont be compatible outside japan
