Contacted customer services to find out more as on their international roaming page a threepay number is given [+44] to top up when abroad. This is a mistake. 3uk are contacting dealerships >pro actively> to inform future buyers that inter"l roaming is not available on threepay.....yet.......................apology if posted already

i'm going to Germany on Tuesday...
3 tell me that my ThreePay phone wont work there, but.... Germany has its own version of O2, named: O2 Germany, since Three uses O2 to roam in the UK (where there's no 3G signal), wont my 3 phone be able to use O2 Germany?

Ah, 'tis you asking on DS. Just in case you read this thread first, the answer is no. It may be ultimately owned by the same company, but its a different network and the only way to use it is international roaming.

International roaming *used* to be enabled on 3, but we had a lot of problems with people taking 3 phones abroad and selling them (pirates, mainly), so unfortunately had to lock the handsets to UK only.

b4 you all go off recogn getting roaming on your 3 phone is nice and easy, they'll probably ask you for a £250 roaming activation charge as well! occh  it's not even a deposit, it's a non-refundable admin. charge that they ask for to activate your roaming service. I was shocked when I heard that today! I've been with Voda and Orange but never have I heard anything so absurd! Has anyone else been asked for this? or are they pulling my legs? apparently, it's a standard charge they charge to all new 3 customers!?!?! as told by an Indian CS operator

I've been told by others in the forum that they generally would drop this charge after you've been with them for 3 months, has anyone been with them for longer than 3 months but still have to pay this 250 quid charge?

This is a THREEPAY roaming thread...
Not a contract one.
Cant see the use of you bringing in the £250 thing into this thread?
BTW, my e1000 on threepay worked fine in the USA last week.

Please go to the link posted below and scroll down to "International charges" about 3 quarters of the way down. Second paragraph.
Certainly does say all Threepay customers have international roaming already activated.
